Is it just me, or is it more difficult to get a single note on the one draw and two draw, than it is anywhere else? Does anyone have suggestions to overcome it? Thanks.

Got a chance to sit in with a band at one of their practice sessions. I think it's a pretty rowdy bunch. Their last "gig" was a baby shower at a biker bar! Wonder if a 38 will fit in my harp case? Should be interesting. I'll keep you posted.

About 2 months ago I met a guitar player that does volinteer work at a local senior centers and nursing homes. He and I played a few songs, and sounded great. He suggested we get together and work on enough material for two or three sets. Then play with him at a nursing home show that he had scheduled. (h...

Hiya... First posting on the forum... I am so in need of practice, but there are no musicians living around here :) In fact, I have never seen or met anyone playing harmonica yet, no human interaction what so ever. Thanks to internet I can pretty much follow up tough... Under these circumstances, t...

Here's a question I've wondered about as a relatively new (>6 months) harp player -- which key(s) do you use the most in your playing, especially for 2nd position? I know C is the most common for lessons (probably because even the cheapest harps come in C, and sometimes only in C), but I recall from on...

I've toyed with it a few times, and even made a serious effort once, but I could never get into tongue-blocking. Well, the right song and the right effects in that song, and I'm a convert. I've done nothing but block for the last few weeks, and now I'm finding it more comfortable than puckering. I've go...

I know that if a song starts with a G you use a C harp for crossharp, but what if it starts with a G minor 7 ? is there another "formula" for the minor 7 th ?

I would like to know if the XB-40 and Overdrive harmonicas are easy to play, the pros and cons. Is the XB-40 really worth that much money? does it bend too easily when playing quickly. For a beginner would I enjoy it that much for the price paid? and basically the same for the Overdrive. I have learned to be...

Is there such a thing as ear training exercises? Something that would help identify what key a song is in? I know a violin player that can name the key of just about any song he hears. Is this something your born with, or can it be systematically developed? Michael

I have been thinking that I may be talking too much. If I backed off some, others may be more inclined to jump in. Working on a new song, nursing home gig in a few weeks. Getting ready to do some Busking to hone my street chops, and hopefully earn a few coins (or high velocity fruit) to put toward Jam Camp. I'l...
