RE: harmonica racks (neck racks)

Thanks , Frankie. I found just what I need at the Elderly Instruments web site. Its called the Harp Handle. It has 2 sets of pivots, allowing you to set the embrochure just the way you want. It holds the harp very securely. It takes more time to change out harps when switching keys, but that is a small price to pay. Speaking of price, it is also inexpensive. I love it and am now spending much time playing guitar and harp together. Thanks again for responding.

Hi BC
Hope you have not given up on getting an answer about the harp rack.

The one I am using is a Lee Oscar, designed with a narrow harp clamp designed for 10-hole diatonics. It holds all my harps with no problem - that includes Lee Oscar, Special 20, and Golden Melody models.

Regarding getting the right angle of presentation, I had to bend the uprights a lot in order to get it right for bending. I like the holes to be pointing downward quite a bit toward my throat so I can get the Kee-Koo type of bend articulation. If the harp is presented too flat, I often have to resort to a front-of-the mouth articulation to get a deep bend and it never sounds as good. When you bend the rack uprights, do it as high up as you can without interfering with the harp clamp action.

One other modification I did was to slide some 3/8 tubing around the neck portion for better comfort and less sliding around.

Hope this helps

I have a harmonica neck rack that I use so I can play guitar at the same time. It is difficult to get the harp deep enough in my mouth, its hard to get it angled right so I can produce bends. Has anyone found a rack that they like, that angulates for the proper embrochure? The other problem is keeping the harp from slipping while in the rack. Any input is appreciated. If there is a rack model that you have found that really works, please include as much detail as you can concerning the brand and where you bought it. Thanks!
