Anybody else use software like Band-in-a-Box to help them practice? You can lay down almost an infinite amount of music styles to a huge variety of music beats to create a pretty good imitation of most songs out there.
Our band has decided to do "So tired of Waiting for You" by the Kinks and "Sugaree" by the Grateful Dead. With Band-in-a-Box, I create the song, record it, and I have a pure instrumental version of the song to practice with before I come back to the band. A little tweaking and I can get it pretty close to a good band sound.
