Just got an updated newsletter from Jon Gindick. I just happened to read it about an hour before I played at an open mic.

He talked about sticking with some basic rhythms and not trying to hit every beat with a different note. I was doing that and didn't realize it. Been working on that idea with other songs I play.

An hour or two later I was on stage using his advise. Worked out great, sounded better. More relaxed, settle into a basic rhythm with some call and response variations. This is just in case Jon thought his students were not paying attention!
