That's what I like about the Harpmaster too, it teaches you to "behave" and control what you are doing.. PLUS they sound nice...
I personally do like the cover plates on the Harpmaster better than the ones on the Bluesmaster, but that's because I go back and forth between Harpmasters and Deltas....
Q : How long have you been playing and what do you like to play?

Hello all. I'm new here. Thanks to the forum for having me. I too think that both the Suzuki Harpmasters and the Bluesmasters are fine for beginners because both are very responsive, especially the Harpmaster. Having said that, it may be hard for a beginner to get single notes on the Harpmaster because it takes such little wind to make the notes sound , any air that leaks into the adjacent holes will cause those notes to sound too. But that can also be a good thing because if you can get just one note to sound on the Harpmaster you know you're doing your single-note technique correct.
They are both fine harps. As a beginner you will not go wrong with either one. I have a 6 pack of the Bluesharps. They can do what I want. Before them I had a Harpmaster, but I blew out a reed in about a month. It played fine, until the note went flat.
The Bluesmater has phospur-bronze reeds. They are suppose to last longer, and they sound a little brighter. It is suppose to be the same harp as a Buschman Delta Frost (another brand I like).
I prefer the feel of the Harpmaster's playes against my lips, and it ussually is a few dollars less
Dutch, That johnson tune, rocks Dude! I like the feel of the bluesmaster, with the overall cover plate. But I have never played either one. If we played guitar, we could try one and put back on the shelf. They won't let you do that with a harp. I'm glad they don't but...
I use HarpMasters and Deltas (they sound pretty much the same) check my vid on youtube if you have time. Quality wise you're better of with a harpmaster plus harpmasters are easier to bend imo.
I am a complete beginner but I like to learn harmonica as a hobby. My local store has some Suzuki Harmonicas and I narrowed it down to HarpMaster and BluesMaster. I tried to get what's the difference between them but I couldn't. I heard that BluesMaster has a more mellow sound but I really didn't get it. Can you send a sample for me? I heard the one that Brendan Power sent on youtube it didn't have enough actual playing parts! I really appreciate it if you can help me. Thanks CorticalSam
