RE: double stops


Guitar players use the same term "double stops" for playing two strings together. I read somewhere that the origin of the term was from violin players who refer to fretting a note as "stopping". Thus a "double stop" is two notes together. Have no idea if this is true or not.

"A double stop is where two notes are played at the same time with essentially equal strength. Double stops can be played using bent notes and combinations of bent and un-bent natural notes, especially on holes 1-4."

I hope i,m not sticking my foot in my mouth, but i believe dbl. stops is simply playing 2 not at the same time. As soon as the "bones" harp players read this they will help you out alot more.:biggrin::biggrin:

what exactly is a double stop? how is it used in blues music or any music for that matter? how would you play them in a I IV V progression? would love to see or hear some riffs being used ....how about guys and gals?:confused:
