I am luck enough to get to see Dennis Gruenling play up close tomorrow. He will be in Atlanta for a Jam Class and I can't wait. This is the 2nd time he's been here and our harp club has helped setup the class and promoted it. He is a MONSTER player and has tone that goes FOREVER. I don't know about his instructional CDs, but his regular CDs are great.

Hi I have two commercial DG CD's. First is "Up All Night" with Sandy Mack on vocals. Solid blues showing off the patented DG Chicago blues licks, tone, and technique. Second is DG and Jumptime in "That's Right". Jump/swing blues with Gina Fox on vocals. Of the 2 I prefer Up All Night just because it's more harmonica-Chi blues oriented. The Jumptime album is pretty neat, with lots of horn lines from DG (and real horns) along with Gina's great vocals, but if I had to choose one I'd go with "Up...".
(I also picked up a couple of Dennis's home recorded CD's at Jam Camp, but I think they were for Camp only, not public distribution....more of "project" type stuff - cool, but the commercial CD's are what you would want to have. Then again, if you're a real big fan like I am, you might want to get everything you can lay your hands on).
