Many, many moons ago in high school band class, I remember the term "slurring". As I recall it meant to play notes run togehter without any tonguing or articulation. Playing a cornet in band, tonguing was the norm and slurring was used more or less infrequently. Well, with the harp, I recently realized I was only using tonguing to separate notes when the pitch did not change. Listening close to some of Jon's recordings, such as in Harmonica Americana, it sounds like most notes are started with the "ka" articulation. Is that right? Is that what generally sounds best? Is slurring used, say only when multiple notes are used for one word of lyrics? Or is it just an artistic interpretation and everyone uses articulation differently?
